TORONTO, July 3, 2018 — To celebrate this historic milestone, TABASCO® sauce is set to awaken the palates of 300 of its biggest Canadian fans with an exclusive three-night dinner series in Montreal this July. The versatile cooking staple, which has made a friend of chefs, home cooks, bartenders and food lovers for more than three generations, is partnering with Bocuse D’Or Team Canada to create three different menus that will be cooked by 11 of the top chefs in the city including chefs from Lavenderia/Park, FoieGwa, Miel, Chez Lionel and l’ITHQ to
only name a few.

A fundraising initiative for Team Canada, the three dinners will offer guests the chance to choose the menu that most appeal to them and experience the
iconic product in a wide array of flavours from the culinary spectrum each night. Under the theme “Global Kitchen”, the four course meals are trading the usual flavours Tabasco is typically associated with for a fine dining fare. This, to inspire foodies to create and enliven dishes in unexpected ways by going beyond the usual with one of the seven pepper sauces available in Canada.

“We’re excited to support our Canadian team and help them raise funds to represent our country in the most prestigious culinary competition in the world while giving a unique experience to the people who made Tabasco a staple in kitchens from coast to coast”, explains Diana D’Elia, brand Brand Manager for Tabasco Sauce at I-D Foods, the retail distributor of the brand in Canada. “Canadians have embraced the brand and made Tabasco an essential ingredient in classic recipes for 150 years. The Montreal festivities will be a unique occasion for food lovers to experience Tabasco in contemporary dishes created by Bocuse D’Or Canada chefs in a culinary adventure like no other.”

Tabasco®: making everything better since 1868

In 1868 Edmund McIlhenny harvested his first tabasco pepper crop from which he created a piquant sauce to enliven the flavours of the food of his family and friends. The creation of this simple sauce would unwittingly change the way the world eats forever. Today, 150 years later, the same three ingredients that made his TABASCO® Sauce – tabasco peppers, salt and vinegar – are aged and bottled by Edmund’s family on Avery Island, the process virtually unchanged.

TABASCO® Sauce is a uniquely global brand not only for its ubiquity, but also for its versatility. The iconic red-capped bottle with the diamond label is sold in more than 185 countries and territories and labeled in 22 languages and dialects. This instantly recognizable pepper sauce is just as at home in main street diners, hole-in the-wall dives and the finest dining establishments as it is in the home pantries, kitchen tabletops and handbags of food lovers all over the world.

“My family and all of us at McIlhenny Company are truly humbled by the love we’ve seen for TABASCO® Sauce that has brought us to this incredible anniversary,” said Anthony A. Simmons, president & CEO of McIlhenny Company and fifth generation McIlhenny family member. “I don’t know if my great-greatgrandfather ever dreamed that his backyard start-up would have given rise to an entirely new food category. One hundred and fifty years later, I’m certain he’d be pleased to have enliven the food of so many people in so many places all around the world. It’s exciting to imagine where TABASCO® Sauce will go and how it will be used over the next 150 years.”
