Toronto, October 17, 2018 — It’s a given that bubbly goes hand-in-hand with the holidays. From office parties, to festive gatherings with family and friends, Champagne will be flowing over the next several weeks — especially here in Canada where we love “poppin’ bottles.”
Champagne sales in North America have seen a steady rise from year to year. In Canada, more than 17 million litres of bubbly are sold annually (that’s a half litre for every Canadian). In preparation for the holiday deluge, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte unveils a sleek new, party-ready look while announcing a unique partnership with Canada’s most renowned export, the world-famous, Cirque du Soleil.
Elegance without the extravagance
Hallmarks of the brand’s elevated package design include a stylish matte black foil cap, a larger, more graphic emblem, and a simplified, more prominent label. But don’t let its good looks intimidate you. Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Réserve retails for $49.95 making it an absolute steal as far as premium Champagne goes — and a fabulous host or hostess gift for the holidays. The Brut Réserve’s palate-pleasing blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with notes of ripe apple and citrus, has made it the number one brand of Champagne in France and the third favourite brand in the world.
“Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte maintains its quality by employing the knowledge and expertise of 4,500 members of the co-op in the Champagne region,” explains Alex Patinios, President, Dionysus Wines & Spirits Ltd., agents of Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte in Ontario. “Rather than buying the grapes and making the champagne from start to finish in-house, local winegrowers produce the wines used within the range. They are then blended by the expert winemaker at Nicolas Feuillatte to express the House’s style and savoir-faire resulting in fine cuvées that are more expressive of the region.”
Living up to their motto of “enchanting life,” and simultaneously aligning themselves with the North American trend toward drinking Champagne outside of just weddings and celebrations, a bottle of Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte is an affordable luxury meant to be enjoyed by anyone anytime. Whether you’re enjoying it in a bar or while ringing in the new year or relaxing on the couch with a movie once holiday house guests have departed, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte is the complement of all the good moments of life.
Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte Runs Away With the Circus
It’s their focus on making life pleasurable and celebrating the everyday that makes Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte a natural fit with Cirque du Soleil, which has been “enchanting” audiences since 1984. As the first ever official Champagne partner, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte’s revamped bottles of bubbly will amplify the sensory experience that Cirque du Soleil is known for at more than 800 performances in major cities across North America. The partnership is launching this month with the North American premiere of VOLTA in Redmond, Washington, and continues through December 2020.
“We are thrilled to have these two incredible brands working together,” said Christophe Juarez, CEO for Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte. “Both Nicolas Feuillatte and Cirque du Soleil were founded on the strong ideals of constantly reinventing ourselves and creating moments of awe and inspiration. Their artistic prowess and our Champagne bring enchantment and pleasure to life. We look forward to bringing exceptional experiences to guests through this unique partnership,” Juarez continued.
The major component of the partnership is a Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte Lounge at show venues where guests will be invited to partake in an immersive experience, including Champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Cirque du Soleil concessions will also be serving Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte and the collaboration will be rounded out by various digital and retail integrations.
Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte’s collection counts four cuvées within its line-up including the Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Blanc de noirs Grand Cru 2004 ($119.00), the world famous Palmes d’Or, the brand’s finest tribute to the art of champagne ($153.00), the company’s best seller the Brut Réserve ($49.95) and the Brut 2008 ($59.95)
DID YOU KNOW?
The trend toward sparkling wine consumption in Canada is growing with more and more Canadians opting for bubbly outside of holidays and celebrations when it has traditionally been consumed. In the last few years Champagne sales alone (not including other sparkling wines) have spiked by more than 10% in North America.
268 million bottles of champagne were produced worldwide last year… Since there are 7.442 billion people on the planet, sadly, that is a third of a bottle per person!
Most people chill champagne for too long! Instead of storing your bubbly in the fridge before drinking, experts advise chilling it in an ice bucket for about 30 minutes for optimal taste.
While a classic champagne flute best showcases the stream of bubbles that gives sparkling wine its “sparkle”, the narrow opening prevents the wine from “opening up” and releasing its complexity of aromas and flavours. Instead, bubbly should be served in a regular white wine glass.
Traditionally regarded as an aperitif, champagne has been overlooked as an accompaniment to dinner but bubbly pairs exceptionally well with a variety of foods. Try it with fish, vegetables, and grilled meat.
